Nigeria: A Nation Bleeding

Every week, Christian villages across Nigeria's Middle Belt burn. Fulani militants descend upon farming communities in coordinated night raids, torching churches with families locked inside, hacking children to pieces in front of their mothers, abducting teenage girls for forced conversion and sexual slavery.

Over 70,000 Christians have been killed since 2009. In 2023 alone, more than 4,000 Nigerian Christians were murdered for their faith, making Nigeria the deadliest country on earth for followers of Christ.

Their Stories Demand Witness

Leah Sharibu was 14 years old when Boko Haram stormed her school on February 19, 2018, kidnapping her and 109 classmates.

The terrorists freed 104 girls—all Muslims—one month later. Leah remained captive. Her crime? Refusing to convert to Islam. Her classmates testified that when militants demanded Christians identify themselves, Leah boldly raised her hand.

"It isn't my religion. I will not" she told them. "Even if I will be killed, I will not accept your religion." Leah has been held as a "slave for life" for nearly seven years. Reports indicate she's been forcibly married to a Boko Haram commander and raped repeatedly. She is now 21 years old.

Giovanni Ifediora Williams, then a university student, fled through alleys as armed jihadist gangs poured into the streets chanting "Allahu Akbar!" He watched his pregnant schoolmate dragged from hiding near Katako Market. They butchered her, slit her stomach open, tore out her unborn child, and left both lifeless while screaming "Allahu Akbar!"

Over 700 Christians were murdered that night. Some Muslim police officers and soldiers joined the slaughter, executing unarmed Christians in their homes. No perpetrator has ever been convicted. Six months later, the Dogo Nahawa Massacre claimed 501 Christian lives in a single night, 178 of them children. Mothers were burned alive in locked huts. Infants were beheaded.

Christmas Eve 2023

Over 140 Christians were massacred across 26 villages in Plateau State. Fulani militias attacked coordinated targets beginning December 23. Grace Godwin was preparing Christmas dinner when her husband burst in ordering the family into the fields. Rebecca Maska took cover but was shot, bleeding for three hours while her son's hand was chopped off with a machete.

Sunday Dawum called security at 6pm when the attacks began. They arrived at 7am the next morning 13 hours later. By then, 27 people in his village were dead, including his brother.

Today

In displacement camps, families of eight share single-room shelters made of tarpaulin and sticks.Water is contaminated with cholera and typhoid.Children eat once daily if they're lucky—watery porridge.Malnutrition leaves babies with distended bellies and hollow eyes.Medical care doesn't exist. Wounds from machete attacks become infected.Simple illnesses become death sentences.

The Nigerian government does worse than nothing...it actively enables the slaughter. Police arrive hours after attacks.Christian majority states are denied the right to form their own security forces.

This is genocide in slow motion.
